Jesus describes Himself as...
the Light of the World.
the Light of the World.
It is one of the 7 “I am” statements of Who
He is.
Do we long for the Light of the World to shine His Light
into our lives so that He can reveal and eradicate whatever is hidden in the
dark corners of our hearts? I hope we
do, because if we don’t want that and allow sin to hide in the dark, we are
giving the enemy fuel to control us through fear of whatever it is being
exposed (John 3:20). This can compromise
our lives and what we do... how instead of doing the right thing, we will want to
operate in damage control. trying to protect our reputation. This breeds deception, lies, and abuse of
power when it involves leaders trying to cover up their sin and wrong doing. It is the exact opposite of what God calls
His people to do. Why would we walk in
the enemy’s ways of keeping things in the dark?
Fear. Let’s not walk in this
fear. God’s way is to bring things into
the light, He exposes and reveals. This
is healthy for us. Yes, it might be hard
and painful, but we are to expect that when we are disciplined, as Hebrews 12
tells us, but we will learn, and grow and walk in peace and righteousness once
we are through it. That is His promise.
But he who does the truth, comes to the Light, that his deeds may be clearly seen, that they have been done in God. John 3:21
